Advanced Cardiac Life Support Renewal (Update)
This course is intended for students that are looking to renew (update) their ACLS Certifications. All participants are required to have an ACLS Provider Card that has not yet expired to enroll in this program.
ACLS is an advanced, instructor-led classroom course that highlights the importance of team dynamics and communication, systems of care and immediate post-cardiac arrest care. It also covers airway management and related pharmacology. In this course, skills are taught in large, group sessions and small, group learning and testing stations where case-based scenarios are presented.
- Basic life support skills, including effective chest compressions, use of a bag-mask device, and use of an AED
- Recognition and early management of respiratory and cardiac arrest
- Recognition and early management of peri-arrest conditions such as symptomatic bradycardia
- Airway management
- Related pharmacology
- Management of ACS and stroke
- Effective communication as a member and leader of a resuscitation team
**Successful completion of a MANDATORY pretest/self-assessment is required prior to participating in this program and collected the first day of the program. Information to complete this portion of the program is available in the manual. All students are required to purchase or have access to the 2020 ACLS Provider Manual to complete this course.
**Students are required to have a current copy of the ACLS textbook. If a textbook is needed, you can purchase one through EMT Academy when you register for the course.
