Advanced Cardiac Life Support Renewal (Update)
This course is intended for students that are looking to renew (update) their ACLS Certifications. All participants are required to have an ACLS Provider Card that has not yet expired to enroll in this program.
The ACLS course is an advanced, Instructor-led classroom based course for Medical professionals who respond to cardiovascular emergencies in and out of the Hospital. This course is designed to enhance their treatment abilities through the American Heart Association guidelines. The training will cover high quality CPR through advanced interventions. This course will last approximately 10 hours, all depending on how many people attend class.
AHA’s ACLS Course has been updated to reflect new science in the 2020 American Heart Association Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (2020 AHA Guidelines for CPR and ECC).
This course builds on the foundation of lifesaving BLS skills, emphasizing the importance of continuous, high-quality CPR.
This advanced course highlights the importance of high-performance team dynamics and communication, systems of care, recognition and intervention of cardiopulmonary arrest, immediate post-cardiac arrest, acute dysrhythmia, stroke, and acute coronary syndromes (ACS).
Topics covered include:
- Basic life support skills, including effective chest compressions, use of a bag-mask device, and use of an AED
- Recognition and early management of respiratory and cardiac arrest
- Recognition and early management of peri-arrest conditions such as symptomatic bradycardia
- Airway management
- Related pharmacology
- Management of ACS and stroke
- Effective communication as a member and leader of a resuscitation team
Successful completion of a MANDATORY precourse self-assessment is required prior to participating in this program and collected the first day of the program. Instructions will be emailed to students upon enrollment.
Students are required to have a current copy of the ACLS textbook. If a textbook is needed, you can purchase one through EMT Academy when you register for the course.
